About JSMH Consulting

Hi, I'm James Sean McGettigan, CPA, CFP, PFS, CGMA

the CPA who grows with you.

Let's connect on LinkedIn

Yup, I’m a real person. In a world full of robotic tax professionals, I pride myself on being able to offer something a little bit different: a genuine, human-centered partnership built for the long haul. It’s you, me and all the numbers.

While I bring the BIG expertise of national tax offices, serving clients for over 16 years, I do it with the energy and collaborative spirit needed to grow with you personally and with your business. I built my firm, JSMH Consulting, and my team around this very idea.

JSMH Consulting was built to do more for you

We go beyond the numbers

At JSMH Consulting, my team and I are proactive with your financial needs. From deep estates to start-ups, and everything in between, we have decades of experience and knowledge to back up our strategies and results.

  • More than just taxes. We go the extra mile to help you spot chances for growth and build a solid financial future that lasts. Plus, we check all the boxes on compliance (and then some).
  • Level up your business. We’ll help you scale your operations smoothly by tackling your estate planning with you, every step of the way.
  • A stress-free experience. That whole complicated and confusing financial process? We handle it. We demystify and take the hassle out of it, so YOU can put your energies into running your business or just living your life knowing the future is secure.

All those letters behind my name mean I am certified as a...

& in plain speak that means:

CPA (Certified Public Accountant)

I know tax law, can handle complex tax situations correctly, and am held accountable by a state licensing board. In short: fewer IRS headaches for you!

CFP (Certified Financial Planner)

I am trained in everything from budgeting to retirement, investments, insurance, and estate planning, and must act in your best interest. In short: I can see and advise on your whole financial picture, not just your tax return

AEP (Accredited Estate Planner)

I have specialized expertise in wills, trusts, wealth transfer, and multigenerational planning. This is essential if you care about what happens to your money, business, or property after you’re gone. I can help minimize taxes when transferring wealth.

PFS (Personal Finance Specialist)

I have above and beyond expertise in financial planning knowledge. I went even further into personal finance topics like investments, retirement, estate planning, insurance, etc. It’s a combo of tax brain and full financial planning brain. This comes into play if/when your finances aren’t “simple”.

CGMA (Chartered Global Management Accountant)

I focus on business strategy, financial decision-making, and management accounting. For businesses and nonprofits, this is a huge plus. It means I can help with cash flow, profitability, budgeting, forecasting, and smarter financial decisions
Basically I’m not just “your tax person,” I’m your “help your business run better and make smarter money moves” person.
